Judge Rich learned that Lexis-Nexis will publish three case files Judge Rich wrote as a lawyer to help law students prepare criminal cases for trial.

Judge Rich was featured on a state wide panel to discuss the role of judges and administrative functions of the court system.

Judge Rich attends the Economics for Judges seminar held at the Georgia Mason Law School in Washington DC. The costs for the seminar were paid by the Law School Foundation.

Judge Rich spoke on a panel at the State Bar of Georgia on dealing with guardianship cases before State Courts.

Judge Rich was invited to dine with United States Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who was in Atlanta to deliver the commencement speech for graduates of John Marshall Law School. Other than Justice Thomas, Judge Rich was the only sitting judge invited to the dinner.

Judge Rich was asked back to Crews Middle School to conduct live court proceedings using video conferencing equipment with the county jail.

For the first time in Gwinnett County, Judge Rich uses video conferencing equipment to conduct felony arraignments on behalf of the Gwinnett Superior Court. The Superior Court cases were all scheduled at 8:30 a.m. ahead of other court proceedings so that the attorneys could expedite their hearings and report to other courtrooms. The system saves time, transportation of the inmates, and improves public safety by leaving dangerous criminals in the county jail, not at the county courthouse.

Judge Rich attends the Law Day banquet sponsored by the Gwinnett County Bar Association.


April 14, 2010

Judge Rich's work with the City of Snellville Municipal Court finally pays off with a successful use of video conferencing of court proceedings between the county jail and the City court. The technology saves time, and transportation of the inmates to and from the city court and the county jail. Judge Rich is also working with the City of Duluth to assist in their use of the system.

Using video conferencing equipment, Judge Rich conducted live court proceedings from Trickum Middle School. On hand were several classes of 8th grade health students. From the classroom, Judge Rich heard several cases involving inmates who admitted to violating their probation by using drugs.


February 16, 2010

Judge Rich was invited back to Crews Middle School to conduct live courtroom proceedings between the courthouse, the county jail, and the school using video conferencing equipment. Several classes of 8th graders viewed the proceedings. Many of the cases from the jail featured one common fact: drug and/or alcohol abuse.
